John Irving's "A Prayer for Owen Meany" is offbeat, intriguing and disturbing, and its power draws me back for a reread every few years. I've long been interested in the life and times of the Tudors in England, so I'm reading "The Other Boleyn Girl" now and looking forward to hearing "The Great Gatsby" on a newly purchased CD. I just finished "Olive Kitteridge," last year's Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and recommend it. A series of short stories tied together by each subject's relationship to the title character tell a fascinating story of her life and a small town.
